Your decision to undertake the project of therapy is a significant one.
This may be the first decision you have made in trying to make changes, the last place you have turned after other alternatives haven’t worked, or one of many options you are exploring to see if its right for you. You might be considering therapy because you are struggling to cope with the demands of your present circumstances, because you find yourself moving through a difficult transition to a new future, or perhaps because you feel now is the time to reflect and process the experiences of your past that still feel alive and affect you now. Perhaps you’re here because your relationships don’t offer you what you want, your day-to-day has become too much for you to hold and manage, or things as they are now aren’t what you wanted or hoped they would be. Maybe its as simple as feeling like you need to make a change – but not knowing how to be different. Whatever route you have arrived from, let me welcome you to your first steps on a new road that I hope I have the privilege of joining you on.
My name is Dr. Holt Hauser. I am a Psychotherapist based in Edinburgh, Scotland, who practices in the dialogue between Person-Centred and Psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am here to meet your mental health needs. The therapy process might seem unclear for those who have not been in psychotherapy before. Even if you have had therapy before, every context in which counselling is offered is different, and you may want to know what those differences are. With these concerns in mind, I have set up this website to offer you all the information you might need to make the first step towards beginning therapy. I’d encourage you to start by learning a little about who I am so you can get a sense of whether I’m someone you’d like to work with. That being said, if you have questions about what psychotherapy is and how it works, or about logistics like fees, or just want to know how to make a booking with me, it’s all here at your finger tips so you can make an informed decision about how you want to approach the next step of working on yourself.
